King Charles’ NFT Ticks Over 20,000 Mints


King Charles’ NFT by the artist Trevor Jones is a success. The free mint, which was open on Nifty Gateway until Sunday, attracted 20,000 collectors. Holders of “The Oath” NFT have now a chance to win a limited edition of another NFT, “The Crown”.

What are King Charles’ NFTs?

Trevor Jones created these NFTs to pay homage to King Charles’ coronation. The ceremony took place on Saturday, the 6th of May. 

Everyone with a Nifty Gateway account had the opportunity to mint one NFT, “The Oath,” for free. It features St Edward’s crown, the paramount symbol of the Crown Jewels. Moreover, it is crafted from gold and adorned with 444 precious and semi-precious stones.

In addition, NFT holders will have the opportunity to participate in a raffle to receive one of 444 limited editions of another NFT, “The Crown,” which will be organized on the 14th of May.

Furthermore, everyone will have up to three chances to win one of ten 60 x 60 cm physical prints of “The Oath,” signed by Trevor Jones.

Who is the NFT Artist Trevor Jones?

Trevor Jones has been working at the intersection of art and technology for over a decade. Though primarily a traditional painter working with oil on large canvases, Jones has embraced new technology to create contemporary abstract and realist paintings focusing on Bitcoin and cryptocurrency.

The 51-year-old Scottish-Canadian NFT artist is based in Edinburgh, Scotland. He began his journey into the art world when he was 31. Then, he started in crypto art in 2018. He has since become one of the most exciting artists in the NFT space. In February 2021, his piece “Bitcoin Angel” set a record for the most expensive open-edition NFT artwork. The work totaled £3.2 million in sales in just seven minutes.
