Alethea AI, a research and development studio, has launched its dApp with Polygon allowing the creation of AI powered NFTs. This enables users to create NFT avatars by simply entering text prompts.
Let’s dive into what CharacterGPT has to offer.
What is CharacterGPT?
According to Alethea AI, CharacterGPT will allow “anyone to rapidly create, train, and trade AI characters as NFTs on Polygon.” Unlike other AI technologies, such as Open AI’s Dall-E 2, this creation does more than just generate images based on text. CharacterGPT generates full interactive AI characters from “a single-line prompt in natural language.”
Where can I mint the NFT?
For those that want to mint the CharacterGPT NFTs, one can visit mycharacter.ai using the Polygon dApp.
For the launch of the dApp, a virtual version of the Polygon co-founder Sandeep Nailwal was created for its launch. This virtual version was then turned into a 1/1 AI NFT collectible which was developed from his “writings, public statements and interviews.” Additionally, there’s a gold check mark alongside the collectible of Nailwal to display his consent of the creation of the NFT. For this to be possible, Alethea AI uses “AI Protocol: a property rights and ownership layer for Generative AI that is now live on Polygon.” Moreover, in a statement, Naiwal said the following:
“I have seen firsthand how Alethea AI has developed this technology over the last few years and through their CharacterGPT AI engine.” Therefore, his team is excited to “continue supporting Alethea as it builds on Polygon and to bring the power and potential of generative AI to the thriving ecosystem.”
What are the use cases of CharacterGPT?
As interesting as CharacterGPT sounds, I’m sure you’re wondering about its potential use cases. Ahmed Matyana, the COO of Alethea AI, shared some examples of use cases for the new technology. Matyana stated that “users can now create interactive, intelligent characters that could serve as their AI companions, digital guides, or as NPCs in games.” In addition, the company hopes that prominent figures will make use of CharacterGPT to create digital twins of themselves. This can also “serve as digital companions for their fans.” As for the digital assets, they can be used in the metaverse, in games, museums, and sports stadiums, among many other things.
Since the launch of ChatGPT by OpenAI, AI technology has become the talk of the internet. This begs the question: where else will we see AI being used? One thing is for certain, and that’s the use of AI in Web3, from AI-generated avatars to AI art. Perhaps an AI PFP NFT collection is next, but only time can tell.
